Robe Creative Hub and Gateway to the Limestone Coast
We are working with Robe Council to establish Robe as the Creative Gateway to the Limestone Coast. The aim being to develop new businesses and industries in the area and serve as a model for other rural and remote communities in Aust and beyond. AgTech will obviously be a focus in helping to build jobs, new industries and the community as a whole.
We will run programs to help businesses to develop future back thinking skills to help them understand the opportunities that exist in 5 and 10 years. Also programs to link up and coming young entrepreneurs with existing business, causes and events as apprentices to learn the practical skills needed to build businesses.
We will also run some reverse pitching events with Carnegie Mellon – existing businesses with one of our entrepreneurs will pitch an idea for a new business to CMUA students. Students will then have the opp to apply to work with this new entity and over time grow a job and possibly equity.
As an example of what could be possible – a few months ago we took a group from Moonshots to Robe to check out the possibilities.
After meeting Brad Scott from Transmutation transmutation.com.au a plastics recycling business which among other things turns bread tags into high quality kitchen items eg Bread Boards, Fruit Bowls etc sold through Country Road, we had a short discussion on scaling as Brad clearly was unsure of the possibilities. As a result Brad agreed to acquire a Plastics extrusion machine and laser cutter and is now mass producing floor and wall tiles from the material used for the Fruit Bowls.
Subsequently he is developing a robotic arm to help stacking and boxing the tiles.
I am sure there are dozens more businesses that could do similar with more exposure to Entrepreneurial and Future Back thinking.
Always happy to talk about how we can help you and you can help us to help businesses in SA grow globally.
